wedding reception halls?
I’m not engaged yet, but will be within the end of the year. My boyfriend and I have decided to start saving now, because we want to pay for the reception on our own. Can anyone here give me any insight on how to go about getting a cheap rate on a reception hall? One that does catering and stuff like that. I do will need an open bar, but no alcohol will be served, only water and pop, and there will be no dancing, but I still want classical music to be played, and I still want it to be high class and nice. I looked at a few and I found one that was charging $24.95 a head! I was shocked at how much they are allowed to charge. If I make an appointment at several different halls, would they be willing to negotiate against each other? If anyone can help me, it would be so great. We need something that will accomodate 400-600 people. And if anyone knows of any in the Detroit/Ann Arbor, Michigan area, that would be even better. Thank You!!!!
I would check into local firehalls or recreation centers b/c most hotels and restaurants will charge the rate you stated and much higher. I am actually suprised that you found one so cheap…here in Northeastern PA you are looking at $35 and higher unless you do the route of the firehalls or rec centers…good luck especially with the amount of people you are having…my sister-in-law had a large wedding as well (300 guests and a bridal party of 30) and the only way they were able to afford it was by going to the firehall…they paid approx. $15 a head and had to supply all of the drinks. You might want to check into parks as well b/c maybe you will be able to work out something or churches b/c some of them will work on a set donation…I saw a wedding that was beautiful and the way the couple was able to afford it was by offering their services in exchange for items and by also advertising the items, for example in front of the cake they had an tastiful advertisement for the cake shop…they said by doing that they got a $200 discount…just some ideas…
